Custom templates for Posterous?

I'm sure this has been suggested before, but Posterous really needs to offer some theming options. I happen to really like the design, and the colours work for me too, but it would be nice to have *some* flexibility. It could be as simple as just a few colour scheme presets or as advanced as full CSS access!

In a similar vein, I'd love to be able to add some JavaScript (actually, Google Analytics is all I really care about here).

Finally, I've attached a mockup below for an alternate layout I prefer. I think moving the user profile pic up next to the blog name helps give the page more individuality, which is what Posterous really lacks.

Totally spot on with this. It doesn't need much to make it a slightly more inviting homely place to be. Hang a couple of pictures is all you need initially.

I don't want them to get overboard with theming frankly, I love the fact it IS so simple. Every other solution succumbs to themeing which can make the the services actually look cheap if the themes are of low quality.

I think better that Posterous retain an element of stability with the overall feel and structure, but with some basic options like header, colour etc.

ImJustCreative has a pointed; as a hosted service, they need to retain some sort of control.
Maybe Twitter's simplistic customization options are the way to go?

I'd hate to compromise the simplicity too. Apart from just being quite refreshing, it's obviously part of their branding - 'email to blog, look how simple it all is'.

But while I'd hate to see it degenerate into MySpace, a few colour palette options couldn't hurt.

While I'm all for simplicity, I like your idea of moving the user profile pic up next to the blog name.

I would disagree, but we can talk about it on the newly Posterous-features-and-bugs-blog: http://debug.posterous.com ;-)
